02:42:12 Feb 7th 10 - Duke Jictelious The Younger: I've seen organizations to feed children, give them clean water, give them surgery to remove cleft lips, prolong their life against disease, give them a chance to go to school... But this? An organization trying to provide a laptop for every child? http://laptop.org/en/vision/mission/index.shtml I can't say I exactly disagree with what they're trying to do, but... this probably isn't one of those organizations at the top of my list of people to donate to. What do the rest of you people think?

It's actually a pretty cool project; It helps bring education to some of the more remote locations in the world...

15:04:16 Feb 7th 10 - Ms. Morgana: It is common misperception that poverty is is about skeleton children with no food and/or clothing as we often see here on TV comercials. As an advocate against poverty in my city I came to realise that poverty is about quality of life Think about a childhood you would have without any toys, and summer trips, computer, DVDs, TV and yes computer. May be it is not obvious to us that computer is now as comon and necessary as TVs, or cellphones. Some companies realised that when they replace their computers for modern versions they can donate them to schools or charities which in return fix them (if need be) and then give to children who otherwise would never have one. So why not do the same with Lap tops? Otherwise they end up on garbage. As for internet comment, we have here free wireless zones, so yes they would have internet, to perhaps help them with school research as many often involve it, writing their homework as is standard and afc have some fun! :P

18:49:12 Feb 7th 10 - Lord Redragon Corpse: Giving childrens access to a computer its a good way to improve his/her education, now people that dont use computers are compared to the peopla that cant read in the past. Computers open new oportunities to find a better work. In Uruguay there is a similar plan, every children has a computer, even if hes/shes poor or rich.

00:01:37 Feb 8th 10 - Sir Cadmus The Reborn: The laptop that is going to be donated is not the type of laptop like we have, with internet and such. It has preset programs which help to teach. Look at the website and actually read about the OX that they are talking about.

Think about it! Would you really be that naive as to think you would solve poverty problem with just food and clothes? NO you would not! Think about fisherman story. You give fish to poor you help them to eat one day. You teach them to fish....So I would say, you want to solve poverty in any country, give them educational opportunities! Give them Lap tops, scholarships so they can return and help build stable infrastructure in their community.

19:27:31 Feb 8th 10 - Sir Santa: Quite simply, if you want to fix poverty, you've got to make the people able to fix it themselves. They can only do that with proper education, giving them better chances in life, more income and therefor a better life. These laptops will certainly help achieve that. And if we can make sure they only have access to pornmovies in which condoms are used, who knows, we may just serously reduce the spread of STD's.
